May Morris: Art & Life explores the life and work of the youngest daughter of William Morris’ youngest daughter who took charge of the Morris & Co embroidery department at age 23 and was responsible for some of the company’s most iconic designs. While her embroidery and work is explored in detail in the exhibition, her life is equally fascinating. With female members excluded from the Art Workers Guild, she founded the Women's Guild of Arts in 1907, and was politically active throughout her life.
Mid-Century Modern: Art & Design from Conran to Quant: opens on 3rd April Featuring furniture, fashion, and photography, this exhibition explores how a group of radical young designers including Terrence Conran and Mary Quant challenged the established order of post-war Britain to herald the lifestyle revolution.
